Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 June 2026
This policy explains how Innovative Content Solutions LLC ("we", "us"), the operator of https://www.indieebooks.com, collects and uses personal data, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are the data controller. You can contact us about anything in this policy at support@indieebooks.com or by post at 2525 Annunciation St, New Orleans, LA, 70130.
1. What we collect
We deliberately collect very little. When you buy an eBook, PayPal sends us a payment notification containing your name, email address, country, PayPal payer ID, the transaction ID, and details of what you bought and the amount paid. When you use the My Downloads page, we receive the transaction ID, email and name you enter so we can match them to a purchase. When you download a purchased file we record the transaction ID, the title and format downloaded, the date and time, your IP address and its network hostname, your browser and operating system, and your browser's language setting - this is our evidence of delivery for refund, chargeback and dispute handling. Our web server also keeps standard technical logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and troubleshooting. We do not collect or ever see your card details or bank information - payment is handled entirely by PayPal. We do not run advertising trackers or sell personal data to anyone.
2. Why we use it (lawful bases)
We use purchase and contact data to deliver your eBooks, provide lifetime re-downloads, and handle refund or support requests - this is processing necessary to perform our contract with you. We keep transaction records to meet tax and accounting obligations - a legal obligation. We use server logs, download delivery records and verification data to prevent fraud, evidence delivery in refund claims and payment disputes, and keep the Site secure - our legitimate interests in protecting the Site, our customers and our authors. We do not send marketing emails.
3. PayPal
Payments are processed by PayPal, which acts as an independent controller of the data you give it during checkout. PayPal's own privacy statement applies to that processing; you can read it at paypal.com. PayPal may transfer data internationally under its own safeguards.
4. How long we keep data
Transaction and download delivery records (including your name, email, what you bought and when files were downloaded) are kept for as long as the store operates, because they are what entitles you to free re-downloads at any time, and in any event for at least six years to meet UK tax and accounting requirements. Server logs are kept for a short rolling period and then deleted.
5. Who we share data with
Our web hosting provider stores the Site and its database on our behalf as a processor. PayPal processes payments as described above. We may disclose data where the law requires it (for example, to HMRC or law enforcement with proper authority). We do not share, rent or sell your data to anyone else.
6. Security
The Site runs over HTTPS, download links are cryptographically signed and time-limited, and access to purchase records requires the combination of your transaction ID, email and name. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical measures to protect your data.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to delete data (where we are not legally required to keep it - note that deleting your transaction record would also remove your re-download entitlement), to restrict or object to certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email support@indieebooks.com; we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
8. Cookies and local storage
Our use of cookies and browser storage is described in the Cookies Policy.
9. Changes
If we change this policy we will publish the new version on this page with an updated date.
